Does anyone know of a trimmer in Essex/East Anglia that would replace the headlining in my '87 Classic ?
The car has a retrofitted powered sunroof (not available from the factory until '88)
I am not able to do the job myself, my body doesn't flex like it used to & my eyes are useless for viewing anything close up :(

No replies yet. There is a local indie. near me that did a complete Dinitrol treatment on the car last year, I might ask them though I suspect they are more into mechanical work than interior trimming. The concept of a fitter handling headlining material after working on a gearbox doesn't appeal but I can ask.
Last time I browsed the 'net I couldn't find any contacts.
Thanks for your interest Mark.

Have you had a look on ebay for example.. Sometimes there are businesses who advertise on there. :)

The problem is finding a outfit that will carry out the work, most adverts. are lining material suppliers only or upholstery specialists. Another alternative is fixings (Amazon etc.) to alleviate the sagging as the existing lining is in good condition & only sags in the rear of the car, the front being supported by the sunroof.

Hmm, I've had a look ànd your correct...
Sorry I can't be of more help. :(

Unfortunately it's usually the foamy backing on the lining material that fails.
To reuse the liners you must remove ALL the foamy stuff which will remain stuck to the liners.
I put a Nationwide Trim in mine some years ago - which have flexible GRP liners - but that too eventually failed due to the foam backing.
I scraped all the foam off & used a Martrim kit to re-cover it. It's a 2 person job as the high temperature resistant glue is instant grab with NO chance of repositioning.
I can well understand why no garages want to take it on.

Link #1 is not sunroof compatible & nos. 2/3 are really too far from me to be a practical proposition, but nevertheless I appreciate your input ... thank you.

Pretty sure the guy in Taunton who advertises on EBay has had some good reviews on the classic Landy forum at pistonheads

So do I
Frankly I'm surprised at the lack of specialists for this service, considering the potential market. I guess there are not enough owners like myself needing the work carried out as there seems no shortage of headlining material suppliers.

I ordered mine from Famous Four, glas fibre back and a nice beige trim. If that helps!

Think the EBay guy may come to you although will no doubt incur a cost but maybe worth asking to get a ball park figure?

Certainly worth an ask, thank you for the suggestion.
The head linings on my P38's are held up with beige plastic trim fasteners, looks a bit like a quilted cushion:rolleyes:

Mine could become a mirror image, there's a good choice of fasteners on the market ;)
