odd one,

my mate took his 110 pick up for him MOT a week ago and it sailed through. i took mine to the same place ( a mate of ours) and he said it has flown through, but they cant MOT it cos its over weight.. and needs a class 7 MOT

on the vin plate it states 3050kg.. fair enough it is over the 3000kg limit for a normal MOT, but why did my mates go through fine when his has the same weights on his vin..

all previous MOT's i have quite a few.. are normal class 4 (IV)

any ideas why it would have changed
ta!

Have you asked your mate who carried out the test? He either made a mistake, dos'ent know what he is doing or worse, likes your mate more than you!;)

yehh he said he had done the test, and was going to sort it on the computer system and the vin plate says its overweight and it cant be done at that mot station!

my mates worked fine on the computer.. cant understand why the old MOT's are normal..

My 1990 2.5N/A 110 Fender van is also a Class 7.

I believe that the CSW is a Class 4

No problems here with that!

If that's th case, then the trouble is finding a Class 4 testing station with either a pit or a long ramp!!

Many of the Sad B'Stards don't seem to like Landies and say that the SWB's and 90's are Class 4, as is the 110 CSW, but the 110 van is a Class 7.

Maybe its been plated at a higher weight some time in its previous life?

I get the impression it depends on the garage!

I took my 110 pickup to my usual chap last week for the first MOT since I got it, he phoned me and told me he couldn't do it as it was a class 7. Fair enough, so a quick google and I'm on my way to the nearest class 7 garage, where despite me telling them what he said they do it as a class 4... said they always do landys as class 4, regardless of what they were previously done as.

yehh, took it to another place today and they said they do landys all the time as class 4..

so booked it in with him. earliest i could get it was wednesday which is when it runs out, so if he cant do it im ****ed!

Well... Booked it in with a normal MOT station who said they can definately do it.. Didn't believe em but left it. Seeing as it ran out today and it was booked for this morn, I rang yesterday to confirm that they could do it, after an hour they rang back and said they can't cos it's a 'dual purpose vehicle'!?? Anyway scraped them and rang a class 7 place to book it in. Got it for this morn, took it in, flew through no advisories what so ever and walked away with one of the first ever 'new style'mot certs that came in yesterday at class 4!?? He said the wording is up for interpretation but I gave him a hand with the MOT and he didn't believe it needed to be class 7 mot's so did a normal one and saved me a tenner!

I won't compain! Just abit of a pain in the arse!

good to hear you got it sorted in the end :D

I had a similar problem with a 110 hard top I used to own. In the end the MOT tester phoned dept of transport (or whoever it is) and they confirmed it is a class 4
