Hi all,

Yesterday my P38 gave me CO poisoning on the M4, that was fun let me tell you. I almost passed out on the Severn Bridge, got vertigo and just managed to pull over to the hard shoulder and stop. Right smack in the middle of the bridge. Not nice. Poxy car. I was enjoying the drive up until that point, 27.1 mpg :)

Anyone any ideas where to start looking please? I relish a challenge but I didn't like being almost unconscious on that freezing bloody bridge, it was mighty windy hahahaha.

cheers,

Mukiwa

I'd have a look at the exhaust manifold gaskets, passenger side one on my mom 9-3 went and you could smell the gasses being blown inside.

Actually diesels give off very little CO2 plenty of other **** to bother you though.

Found the leak :beer2:

The flexible mesh covered pipe from the turbo down pipe (no idea what it's called). JD Rovers man had a look for me. What a bugger of a place to get to. Does this bit have a name and can it be repaired?

Also I've just been underneath and it looks like my turbo is blowing oil, it's dripping down the down pipe and off the sump. Can you overhaul turbo's or is it replace time?

My old gensets in Africa used to blow turbo's and boy did we know with the clouds of black smoke hahahaha. But we used to get them re-furbished (bearings replaced I believe).

Normal to have some oil in turbo and hoses. Just depends how much you have, can be reduced by cleaning oil strainer and vent valve in cam cover if you have a post 98 with EGR that is. Can be replaced but usually a new front pipe. £££££

Nah mines a 98. My oils on the outside running from the bottom of the turbo onto the lovely hot exhaust pipes. :)

There is an oil return pipe on bottom of turbo maybe that needs looking at. Should have EGR if it's a MY 1998.
