choosing new off road tyres !

:):)so I was searching on ebay and the internet for some new off road tyres looking for a set of 35" for my defender as the insa turbos special track tyres I have are just to small so it just drags it arse every because it is just not high enuff.

so I was thinking of going with fedima or simex tyres

when i came across these!!

they loom pretty mean! and I had seen some one out laning befor with the same or a similer tread pattern nd he got every where! :mad: where me and the other who was out with me where just getting stuck in the deep sloppy mud:mad:

so has any one seen or used these tyres?

or should I just go for more all round and get something like maxxis CREEPY CRAWLER?

if you drive in mud great. wet roads or ice and you are screwed.

Visit john craddock they got very good selection of tyres. You want something good for road and mud coopper stt/stx or if you drive more road than mud then cooper at's line

and my defender is just my toy for weekend and on a night playing so doesn't get much time on the tarmac haha so really more extream the better

If your on the bay talk to JCS 4x4 tyre's he will explain all you need to know has massive stock and will overnight them
 
There is such a thing as a too-wide tyre. I went off roading a while back with my basically-standard 90, and even on road-biased all-terrain tyres was making progress through places that defeated a modified 90 on huge off-road wheels. His was just floating around on the top layer of sludge while mine tended to cut through to the harder ground underneath. 7.50R16 was/is fitted as a standard size and apart from occasionally dragging the towbar I never had any trouble with ground clearance.

Bronco grizzly claws seem to cope with just about anything and aren't too ridiculous.

That isn't necessarily anything to do with tyres. Could be this chap is a better driver than you.

If you need extreme tyres to go laning, it is too wet too be out on the lanes, you are causing damage.

Very large, wide tyres have a few advantages, mainly if you drive only in P&P and trials. They also have many disadvantages, Power greedy, noisy, expensive, detrimental to steering and suspension component life, road handling, stability. ability to get through tight gaps.

Your are laning and think you need 35" tyres. Dear lord.


Maybe driver training would be a more worthwhile spend than on tyres you don't need.


And no, you don't need 35's for Prick & Prat sites either.
 
Always buy a vehicle where the gearbox aint gonna break in two! ;)
Amazing how many freelanderers make this mistake! :rolleyes:
Easily done like snapping shafts ;)
Rule of thumb:
round tyres on round wheels
square tyres on square wheels
triangular tyres are too eggpensive so try to avoid triangular wheels :)
