Series 3 Choke cable query.

Hi folks, continuing story of the rebuild of my sons series 3 1983.
In the pile of parts was this choke cable. I cant seem to make it fit anywhere so suspect it is not the correct one. rhd 1983 . Any thoughts here? cheers. part number in the book says 599312 for one with steering column lock.

Does not look like the one in the lock of my 77 series 3 which has a round knob.

Update on this I called my son and he looked at the photo and said it may have come off his Midget which he broke up years ago.

He nicked it off a midget, brave of him.

Hi Tottot, in response to 'Chock cable query' this chock looks very much a standard Brit-Part (via Brit-Car) replacement, used all over the shop, i.e. British cars.... have the same for a current S 3 rebuild... it usually comes with a pre-drilled Black finished bracket to hang under a dash via 2 screws, thus hold the main outer. We had a prob getting an OEM part to fit in the original ignition key block and stay held in by a very small circlip.... when its grove was shot, previous folk messed-up. So the 'stand-alone' is the cheaper option. Also standard part (supplied with carb kit) for a Webber carb up-grade, Good luck, Skip

Yes, often with older vehicles making up something that works [ the ignition system on my 90 is like this as there is an intermittent fault in wiring somewhere behind the dash ] is simplest unless one is going for originality. Cheers.

I ordered a cable from Paddocks 599312 it fits in the slot but the length looks short. Find out later when the wiring goes back in.

Update on cable.. It is too short! Inner and outer. It fits in the tapered slot ok Correct part number for model as per the book etc. Weber carb fitted.
Any idears about this one?

Yep, can understand that, your point on 90 parts on a late 3 Series is then highly likely. With a new Weber and new E'distributor en spot-on timing - its very sweet, although yet to get a MOT and give it a run-in.
Had a nightmare with a Shielder galv'y dipped Bulkhead (via terrain tech) - getting 34-3/4" gap for front doors - a task-and-a-half.... got there in the end. - thus => Had issue mounting some 'Paddock' supplied Front Doors (a Britpart product) with exiting Bolt kit for hinges, were too short so had buy Def - 90 version (Torx) an extra 5mm longer. A pack of 10 bolts from Brit-car = good price, considering some single 'bolt' prices about. Well - plod on, cheers guys. Skip

Update on choke cable. I fitted the cable through the hole in the ignition block and tightened it either side of the steering cowl.
