Hoots mon...
Just thinking once all the BMW M62's self destruct, will we start to see any conversions using the ubiquitous chevy small or big block motors...

Seen some Lexus V8's into series tratters, supposed to be great engines...

Personally i felt M62tu was wrong engine for my L322, not enough burble or serious grunt, would much prefer something like Corvette ZR1 6 litre with supercharger.. Its not like range rovers are averse to throwing any engine in after all, we've had Buick, VM, Bmw, Ford/Jag,

Don't know but carry on, keep us in touch as you proceed. Note to MODS this could be the longest thread ever.

Not intending to do this wamms, but i'd buy one with a ZR1 conversion in a heartbeat, so long as gearbox etc was uprated accordingly. Just for the fact that parts are cheap as it was/is the most mass produced V8 in the world, simple and robust wif a proper burble.

why not go for the 454 that was fitted to the Manaro
Yes, good motor i hear, is it not a chevy?
VXR is corvette motor, 6.2 i believe.. i reckon this would be a great conversion, and i would have thought you could fit an adapter plate to M62 sump thus reataining 4 wheel drive....
Probably need to run 'stand alone' engine software, not sure how box would regulate itself,, but as i said i am NOT doing this, just guaging how people would judge it, i.e. Proper Rangie? Sacrilege? Just wrong/right?

The 454 ci chevy motor is about 7.5lts
Would probably need LPG fitted to that one , unless we get independance and get the cheap petrol we should have had for decades...
but 7.5L V8, lurvely.... seen a prog years ago bout a guy in USA who had a 10 litre in a cobra!! Believe it was made by a Nascar engine suppier, not mass produced at all, it put out close on 1000hp, normaly aspirated and detuned!!!!! obviously not California spec then  mind you, 100hp per litre is nothing these days, yank V8's are usually in region of 70hp per litre.

There is no substitute for cubic inches, although it is remarkable what can be achieved from from small engines now, maybe we could have a control conversion, maybe a 1.8 litre twin chargerRR, :D
