i have inherited a series one that is in pretty bad state and have decided to give it a fairly radical new life. 307 chev is going in and obviously a new driveline and suspension with a fairly high lift. I have no intentions yet for any offroad competition, just a bush blaster. anybody out there know of anything similar or have any suggestions. i wll be fabing a new chassis around the new driveline if required but have not decided on running gear yet, cheers

Pointless. build a hybrid and keep the series 1 original it'll be worth Shed loads more (even as a wreck) than some cobbled together hybrid thats basically got a series one body plonked on top.

Thats pretty much the reply i was expecting coming onto a Landy forum with plans to butcher a series 1. I probably should have mention that the body is about the only salvagable thing on her, maybe the diffs but i hear they are fragile anyway. Chassis is beyond repair, cyl head has been awol for about 10 years, along with everything that bolts to it, radiator aswell. Doubt shes worth much. Got the planned V8, tranny and suspension just lying around and the experience with chassis fab/ mod to do everything ourselves. Yes it will be a hybrid with a landy body on it, but it wont be just "cobbled" together. It will be a relatively cheap project that will be **** my pants fun to drive with old school Landy style. Not pointless to me.

I still see it as a pointless exercise. I mean its just too powerful and too short a wheelbase. Mabe cut down a RR chassis to 80 or 86 inch and then spend the money on a decent V8 overhaul and you will have somthing worth having. As for home made chassis, Chevy thats too heavy and powerful, different axles and indeed drivetrain none of which is Landy its not really of any intrest to me being a fan of Landy stuff myself. Others may disagree but you can do alot worse than a Rover or indeed Buick V8
