Recently bought chequer plate panels to fit the bonnet and body work of my disco 1. Would like to know if anyone has any tips before installation or share experiences of anyone who has already fitted them to their own landy.

I've done the back and forth in regards to rivets vs bolts, and I'm pretty much set on the rivets (mainly down to the fact my landy is parked on the road, and I'm worried about theft issues) Not too sure about the best way to prevent dirt and water getting under the plate once installed, but my brother in law's friend did suggest a foam backing like closed cell foam.

I've put aside three full days to get these installed next week, so time is not of the essence with this.

Any help would definitely be appreciated!

Ditto with the silicone sealer, or Tiger Seal, or indeed probably any sealant bead ... ;)

I would say silicon is better...

If you planned on removing the chequer in the future!!

Tigerseal tends to take the paint with it upon removal!!

... and silicone when it's well stuck and old is a b'stard to remove!
