Checking my sills

Since buying my 300 tdi last week, I have not checked the sides of my sills. I've checked underneath and it doesn't look too bad. If it's going to rust anywhere, surely this would be where it would show signs first?

Do I really need to take the sill covers off?

the inner sill is thicker as mounts are fastened to it ,outer is tinner and rusts first

Make sure ya sat down when ya do. I've had to replace almost all of the drivers side sill inc B post foot and rear sills have gone from B post to rear arch. both sides In fact N/S is getting a length of 100x50mm box section welded in tomorrow.

I would take the plastics off just to have a look then you'll know, I have taken mine off and found some rot, but not too much but still will put a couple of patches in, its done then
