Hi, I'm Richard.
I recently bought myself a new Discovery 2 with 126, 000 miles on it!.
What checks can I make to establish if there is wear in the drive and transmission components? Also, what would you say is the mileage that these Discos 'die'? Mine has a full service history.

I can assure you there is, job jobbed.

I asked what the maximum mileage would be for these cars and everyone is saying a different answer! From 150, 000 to 750, 000:confused:.
And I doubt the car dealer is going to tell me exactly where and how to spot the wear.
Dealer? what exactly have you bought? details we likes details

ok so maximum mileage, well what kind of life has the disco had? where did it live, what were the previous owners like for aggressive non mechanically sympathetic driving, has it ever been off road, did it tow on a regular basis, were the majority of the journeys it made long or short, i could go on but im boring myself here.

My current disco is off roaded every weekend, driven quite hard but fairly by me and is on its second that i know of engine, at least its second gearbox and third tranny, its had 2 front diffs in the last year and at least 2 rear diffs coz the one fitted now is a 4 pin so non standard, suspension has been lifted so thats at least its second set of springs and dampers all rebushed by me not long ago, its currently on 316,000km so about 200,000 miles and still going strong but if im honest its a bit like Triggers broom, if you get what i mean.

It started out in Scotland. No idea of what kind of life its had. For all I know it could have been towing horse boxes out of muddy fields every day.
I just wanted a rough guide of what others have got out of there's.
Nathan, I have bought a car, from a car dealer.
