Check your drain holes!

Whilst addressing some slight corrosion on my 1989 90s bulkhead, I thought I had better check the A-post drain holes. At first I couldn't find them- they were completely obscured by mud. A few pokes with a screwdriver found them but to my horror they both had an inch or two of mud in them. All removed now and I'm going to enlarge the holes.

Lesson learnt- check them regularly. I'm sure many of you already do this, but just in case you didn't know .......

I would also do similar with my doors if the frames didn't already have huge holes in them!

Always love an opportunity to have my drain holes checked. Better wake the mrs.

Drill them out to at least 1/2 inch, Iirc I mad mine 9/16 as that was the biggest drill I had at the time!

What drain holes?

At the base of the A pillars. Mine were pretty obscured.

Mine arnt sealed up at all down there.

Didn’t know there were any down there! Will have a butcher’s tomorrow, I’ve got nasty chequer plate along the sill, so maybe they’re being covered.

Take a peek underneath directly below the A-post (situated between wing and door). On mine there's a single hole about 5 mm.

Most motors A pillars will be full of either mud or rust flakes!
They are hard to see, chequer plate makes no difference.
