All three bolts sheared off in the block... Never seen that before. Presumably over tightened when the water pump was changed in 2018/19 according to the date on the pump casting. Anyone else suffered this? Luckily at 55mph and around 50mtrs before we pulled over and shut it down.

So far around ten bolts snapped in hidden fixings and plastic casings. It's not a wander most garages won't touch them. Even landrover near us in France said themselves they don't do older vehicles as they know exactly how complicated they are to deal with.
:(

To be fair, snapped bolts are down to poor workmanship, not bad vehicle design.
I've done a few timing belts on the TDV6, and haven't managed to snap one bolt yet.

I think I'd be removing the timing belt covers, just to see if any more bolts are waiting to fail.

As Nodge says thats down to the last mech not greasing stuff as he put it back together.

Can't fault your words, tightened way to much for a three tiny 6mm bolts. 1/4" wratchet and normally your wrist will tell you how tight they should be. Just the level of gear to get into it.
My 38' has maybe 5 or 6 hoses, this things has around 12-13? Complex...

There will be lots more than 12/13 coolant hoses on the D4.

D3 set up, dont have D4 info,

I stand corrected, 5.8mm bolts but the pump is drilled for 8mm. Why not fit 8mm. I'm sorry but that is effing stupid sdv6 with fuel heater and a secondary small rad at the front for wtf!! or not with a million cooler pipes... It's cost this poor owner.. Because of some idiots momentary lapse of reason. Economically built indeed.
I'll stick to my 38'
