Hi all,

Got a message last night on my L322 range rover saying to check brake pads, same thing this morning. Now i know that the pads and discs a pretty much brand new (less than a couple of months old) and i have checked there is loads of 'meat' still left on them, so im now thinking that it must be one of the sensors, does anybody know of a way that i can check which wheel is causing the problem without removing each one and inspecting each sensor individually? and also is this a common problem? and when i change the sensor will the system reset itself automatically?

Thanks
Matt

There are two pad wear sensors - one on the front left-hand wheel inboard pad and the other on the rear right-hand wheel inboard pad. The pictures below show how they look when new and also when they wear through and trigger the warning light. The warning will reset itself once the cause is eliminated and the ignition has been left on for a minute or so.

have just replaced my pads and came across this post whilst searching for how to reset the warning message.
I thought I'd try resetting the service interval first as that looked simplest, and managed to get that reset ok.
Whilst resetting the service interval, I must have turned the ignition off/on a few times because the 'Check Brake Pads' warning has now gone away, so maybe the on/off x 10 method of resetting does work for that.
The upshot is that I didn't have to use the 'reset all defects' method, so can't comment on whether it works or not, but it could be useful to someone if they haven't got access to Testbook (or who's as tight as me:D ).
