Also i know your the man of 'wisdom' as the case may be, we have got a quote from the NFU for £1870 but the Co Op insurance is £1750, are they any good. the co op that is?
Insurance is insurance, they are all rip off gits who'll try and wriggle out of paying up should something happen, mine's modified so I always go with Adrian Flux or Brentacre, who ever is cheaper but then I haven't claimed in over ten years

Also means you got a lot of badlearning to undo. ;) You are learning to pass a test, not learning to drive.

Cheers
Now that is going to be hard! I think ill be alright at the practical but the theory i think ill struggle as disexia is a bitch :)

Flossie, I feel You! I've spent over 10k euros (7-8k on parts) on my 2006 D90 and haven't actually done any major jobs. Just fuel pump and lines, engine seals (not the head gasket), new suspension, new brakes, lots of small non-functioning bits in the interior, half shafts, flanges, bearings etc etc. All parts bought myself, trusty mechanic did the work at a reasonable price. So I wouldn't say it's that large of a sum to get a truck with galvanised bulkheads/chassis for 14k. I think that's actually quite reasonable. There are sometimes those super-sweet deals where a mint condition Defender is up for sale for a strangely low price, but those haven't come along in the last 3 years. So props to You for sharing this info and I'm definitely on Your team on this topic:D

To the young guy who wants to buy a 90. I would avoid the 90 if I was You and go for a 110. It's just so much more practical. You can carry large things and lots of people in it, can sleep in the truck, it has a much higher potential to satisfy Your practical needs for 10+ years. The only real good thing about the 90 apart from the looks is the parking. It's so much easier to do:)

I was considering the 110 but where I live parking is a major issue as the spots are so small and tight car parks are a nightmare! I live a fair way from the nearest major village of city as I’m a country lad but a 110 would just be to big for my area sadly hence why the 90 would suit me down to the ground!

Interesting read, I’m in the same boat as you OP. Just weighing my options based on my budget of 15k. Older+Galv or newer without.

It’s some time since the last post, how are you getting on with yours?
