Hi I have just bought a 6 month old 110 sx. I have owned Land Rovers before but never one so new. I had a look underneath and it must have seen some off roading already and I am concerned about the ongoing issue of corrosion on the Chassis.

Can anyone give any advice on what I can do to halt the aging process while everything is still relatively new.

I have also noticed that the headlight mounts are starting to rust around the lenses. Is this common?

Please forgive me if this has been answered alsewhere. I did look and couldnt see a good response.

I have had my rings around my headlights replaced twice in the last 12 months they seem very susceptible to rust. Not sure what i can do to stop this.

wow thanks for the quick responses.

Wax oil sound like a pain to apply. Is there anything more permanant that can be applied?

Otherwise are there places you can go to mhave this put on?

I live in south essex.

RE headlights can these be easily bought.

Waxoyle from a schutz gun really is your best bet, stuff it FULL of waxoyle and then give the outside a good coating. Once a year in the summer give it a good clean - truck service garage will steam clean it for a tenner or let you use the machine - or jet wash, let it dry and give it another little coat.

When the rust starts from the inside you've had it, it will rust away and you won't suspect a thing until one day you can punch a hammer through it.

It is not really hard to do at all, with a new tin, pour about a cup of it into a little container (you can add this in when the can is near empty with a little more thinner) and fill it back up with whitespirit (or similar), give it a good shake then spray on (assuming you have a compressor), it will be quite thin will run all over the place and get everywhere water would. Get yourself into the following mentality: When it starts pouring out the opposite end you have enough in it.

Spray it into every single hole, stuff the rear cross member full of it, get the A-frame cross member, all the rails etc...

You can do the bulkhead too if you fire it up the door pillar.

You can pay companies to do it, but you’re probably more likely to spend the required time on it to do it properly.

Guys a ripoffing **** and if anyone slags him off he sends snotty emails to the forum admin demanding the posts be removed or he'll sue the forum. If you want to know what a **** he is go on offroaders rantpage and landrover site and do a search on there.

Aye that guy as advertised on LRO etc is a bodging idiot. I know someone who got it done, it looked great for about a month, after which he jet washed it and bloody great flakes fell off!

Yep !

they come full o waxoil an its called a pressure tin refill the whole lots costs about 50squids from Halfrauds an thats with enuff waxoil t do a 110
Or £25 from Trago! £18 for a tin of the black stuff and £7 for the gun and pressure kit. Probly worth spending the extra £25 on not having to go to Trago though:D

wtf is trago? Is that like a downmarket Lidl?
Trago ain't like anything else, it sells stuff incredibly cheap but is pikey hell - they won't let you in unless you are wearing a shiney trackie - and it makes you buy stuff you don't need just coz it's dead cheap - but then you get it home and discover that actually it's crap! ...although to be fair there are some good bargains to be had there. ...and only 10 mins from me front door
