Chassis Number Location

Can anyone confirm for me where the chassis number is stamped on a Disco 1 please? I think it's on the rail visible through the drivers side front wheel arch, from what I have been able to find using Google.

I recently bought one that is part converted into a Sahara and want to check all the numbers but I can't find one on the chassis. The chassis has been cleaned and painted so is it possible the number could have been worn off with wire brushing?

Try between the 4 steering box bolts on the chassis.

I had a good look today and could find no chassis number anywhere in the vicinity indicated. Or anywhere else for that matter. Is it only lightly stamped or etched? I have a feeling it's been obliterated when the chassis was cleaned with a wire cup brush. I can't find any pictures on the internet to guide me.

when I worked at thompson chassis (on the frontera line) we stamped them by hand with tired out stamps.
If they were done no better on the disco frames it's ghost is long since gone. Good Luck.

Confirmed position of number on chassis so tried rubbing down the new paint in that area with only limited success. I can make out a small group of letters which looks like 'ALL' but that's it. It seems the rest has either corroded away or been erased by wire brushing.

Looks like it wasnt stamped very deep and the pitting has removed most of it
