got a 90 td (e reg) needing tlc but was going to keep patching up as long as poss and get motd but just got a 300tdi disco for 350 with mot untill june runs sweet as and pulls like a train and bought it only for the engine and axles but my plan is now use the disco untill june and in the that time do the 90 up mint as i saved up for a poor 300tdi 90 but i think i can make a real mint 90 300tdi for the same price or less

so the Q is i'm going for a marshland galv chassis with the td5 cross member but if i get 300tdi mounts on it where will the engine sit ?

because i seen a few ppl done the 2.5td to 300tdi and just moved the one mount and extended the hoses and looks like the engine sits a little more back ??
 
near rad ,mounts will sit in same place as v8 in line ,if you put 300 in put it where they are on std vehicles ,fit r380 and 300 floor plates and tunnel r380 disco boxes can be converted to def by swapping selector shaft in gear box and top housing,disco front prop same as 300 90
 
well not sure wat box cause the disco 2nd gear syncro worn and the lt77 seen a hard life so might look for a r380 defender and do a prober job is there a diffrance in the 300tdi defender transferbox and the disco one ?
 
no just direct hand brake or bracket on side ,ratio def usually 1.4 disco 1.2 ,synchros easy to change on r380,nearly all second hand r380s have worn synchros
 
what the better transferbox ? where can i get synchros from and the shaft for the selectors? many gear box tools needed? the bulkheads not diff on the 300 is it ?
