hi I’m changing the chassis on my 300 tdi 90. I have unbolted everything and am now struggling to get the body high enough to wheel out the chassis has anyone got any tips I’m thinking of buying a two post lift as I have space for one. But if anyone has a easy way to get it high enough safely would be good

I let the tyres down but didn't drop much, enough though, could ratchet strap the back axle to chassis to pull it down, its only the back thats a problem if I remember right

Most of the chassis changes start with a removal of panels...roof, tub, wings ,bulkhead ,doors etc not try and lift whole body...everything unbolts...a2 post lift??

I have seen people use 45gallon drums and scaffold planks. Jack the body up, slide a plank under it, barrel on each side, back down. It’s high enough to get the chassis out.

2 post lift or a fork lift or any other suitable lifting device and a T spreader bar through all 3 door openings

thats not my problem those are just ways ive used, besides hes thinking of buying a 2 post and you can borrow or hire other

Your right so why does´nt he just buy the 2 post...obviously he´s got the space and the money...why ask?...as said before jack it up on bottle jacks till you get 45 gallon oil tanks under it sorted...cheaper than a 2 post...not for me...

you can be as contrary as you want its no skin of my nose, he could do that but he also now knows you can lift using a spreader bar under the roof which offers other options, lifting the body off in one saves a lot of work unless you want a full rebuild

Whats he going to lift it with...?

“Blimey what a response” I asked for tips or ideas and got a few. My mum told me “if you haven’t got something nice to say then say nothing “ A1203 This forum is not for me

Bad job,a new member lost. Shame.
Bad in what way? OP admits he got a few tips and ideas - which given that he only waited 10 hours before spitting the dummy - and that was overnight!!!! - then I don't reckon anything would have been enough for him, so no loss. :)
