To anyone about change their water pump on their disc 300 TDI(which I've just done ) . LOOSEN ALL FLY WHEEL BOLTS BEFORE TAKING BELT OFF , if you don't then you can't get one of the bottom bolts out on the water pump because bottom fly wheel is in the way . An hours job took me all day because of this .
However all was good in the end .
Nb: Garage would of charge £94 for pump + £74 labour .
D.I Y : £13 pump ( WWW.brokwells.com) and a few hour enjoyment. I should get the feeling back in my fingers -4 all day !
Hope someone finds this "TOP TIP " useful.

I guess you mean pulley bolts :) Got a top tip for you. Pneumatic ratchet :) Nice 'n easy.

I would steer clear from those cheap pumps though (although I must admit that it may not be much of a problem in the UK). Where I come from, when temperatures hover in the mid-30s for most of the summer (and like to climb to the low 40s pretty often), cheapo pumps may make your temperature gauge climb a little bit higher than you may be accustomed to. Somebody recently told me that their impellers are smaller. I replaced my pump with a cheap one last february and wasn't a happy chappy in the summer. Will rip it out again in a few days and replaced it with a Quinton Hazel item.
