ive discovered mine has a bit of a leak on it so have ordered a new one, ive seen that the rear diff and axle is not in the way, there are some bolts that have it screwed in, is this all that needs undoing to remove it and replace with the new one?, is there any problems with changing it i should know about at all?, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Not really. Unless you have a tow bar fitted. It needs to come off, which might be difficult in some cases. You need to take remove rear bumper as well (if you have the tow bar).

Just empty the tank, get the hoses and wires off and drop the tank. Simple and easy, but almost definitely dirty. The bolts and nuts have seized almost certainly.

For safety disconnect the battery. I found it an easy job having done it on the driveway last year, so the rear cross member could be welded.

You should have support cage fitted over the tank, if not you should by one.

Make sure you have got the correct tank for your vehicle before you start. Some are multi vented, and some are not depending on the year.

Be careful when you undo the ful pump as the screws will be rusted in and will break. You will need a new gasket if it is not supplied, new jubilee clips for the hoses, I would replace the top hoses while you have the tank out as once fitted it is very hard to do later.

Check that you fit the float gauge the correct way up before fitting as it is a pain to change afterwards.

The tank should be painted or covered in waxoil or similar before fitting.

New bolts for mounting as the old ones will be shot.

Be carfull installing the pump as it is very delicate and can break, if I was doing this job i would replace the pump and float valve as well.

Float is cheap, pump is about £35 from some outlets, I say this for two reasons.
1. Fit and forget.
2.Mine did not work after fitting the new tank, due to disturbing the old one.
