Here's an odd one... I want to change over the 3 heater knobs in my pre facelift Freelander. The ones that are there are... sticky. They work fine, but it's not nice touching them! Is this a ... known issue? Think this will be an easy job? Thx!

I was going to post the same question for the same reason.
I am fed up finding the heater switches horribly sticky when the weather is damp.
The stickiness does go away when the cab warms up but it is horrible when there.

Maybe they need a clean, I will try that.

They just pull off. The radio knobs on my D3 radio were the same. I took those of and gave them a good scrub with dish washing water. They were ok after that.

I changed mine for the same reason - tried everything to clean them, but they where still sticky. New ones not that expensive...

There's a thin rubberised coating on 'em - try soaking them in warm soapy water overnight and using a soft dish scouring pad.

If that fails, brake cleaner should pull it off...

@Rimini-Scott
They look like the ones from an mgf?

I reguards to the ones on the pre facelift, its quite common for rubberised items to go sticky, they can be cleaned with rubbing alcohol

Are they really 'just pull off'?

I tried and they won't budge and I don't want to cause any damage.
