Hi All

I'm new hear and new to Landys, and unfortunately new to anything mechanical...which I'm finding out could prove difficult for me!
I got a series 3 1983 short wheels base diesel.
Now the right door is sagging a fair bit and was told that a top new hinge would sort that out, it also needs new mirrors, so i have bought 2 mirrors and a new hinge. Only now I am stumped as I thought would be easy. Now I've looked over lots of the threads but I need a serious dummies break down step by step as have no idea what alot of it all means. Worst case could I get a list of everything I need to order as am now thinking may need new nuts bolts things I haven't thought of etc (if I have to hire someone to do it.:()
On a seperate note the other problem I'm facing is the screws have been painted over so wont budge and one of the screws doesnt have a cross in it for screw driver, just looks like a flat bolt head in there!
HELP ME OUT!?!?
I'm base in southend way if any one knows anyone who could help or a good garage maybe?

Thanks people
Jack

Drill them out or angle grind off the old hinge, they're notorious for becoming solid after a while. Some people use an impact driver on the bolts but cutting through them would be faster

^what he said. looks like a trip to B&Q; buy a grinder, a selection cutting and grinding discs, a set of ring/combination spanners, metric and imperial and a box of assorted galvanised or zinc plated nuts and bolts. a drill, and HSS drill bits, and a BFH if you havnt got one will undoubtedly come in handy soon.

good luck!

There's no thread, just captive nuts which slot into the holes cut in the bulkhead. You will of course have to replace the captive nuts and bolts but these should be easily sourceable via the internet

Ahhh I see. So do the captive nuts stay in place as I'm guessing you cant get a spanner on them to hold still as inside the bulk head?
And is this the same principle for the other two holes that attach to the door itself?

Thanks
Jack

Yes they clip onto the metal of the bulkhead and hold a nut which the hinge bolts into. The door side just has bog standard nuts holding the door on, these usually come off relatively easily but if not they are accessible enough to get an angle grinder or hacksaw
