how much of the hubs do I have to strip to change the cv joints? according to the haynes manual it needs stripping completely.

Also what jacks do you guys use and reccommend?

You will need to strip them down to the swivel ball. It's not that hard a job and should only take an hour or so. I got a high lift jack but seem to use a standard 2 ton car jack when doing any work on it as that works just fine

i personally wouldnt use a highlift jack unless in an emergency situation offroad when carrying out any repairs on me landy..

proper trolley jack and axle stands are a must..

the only prob we had when doing the cv was removing it from the half shaft, one side came out easily with a little persuasion the other side would not move atall.
so we had to buy a new half shaft aswell.

soak all the nuts/bolts with wd40 a few hrs prior to starting job aswell

thanks for the help guys, the pictoral guide really helps.

thought my 2 ton trolley jack (and axle stands) would be ok, but thought I'd check

cheers

done the CV joints, a peice of ****, but noticed when I took it for a test drive it seams to be pushing the pads back, can the hub be adjusted?
