Freelander 1 Changed VCU bearings 2 years ago...

Evening ladies and gets.
Changed my VCU bearings 2 years ago along with a recon VCU. Last year the car has sounded a bit sick, to say the least. Turning left in roundabouts etc. and the car makes some bad noise.
Had a LR day today, failed it's norwegian MOT of course, and I thought I would have a look at this matter also.

See attached pictures and video. Is this normal after only two years? Bought from a well known supplier.

On the plus side. Fuel cradle now fixed, two new brake pipes, rear brakes OK, new pads, new bushes to the rear suspension and one new rear ABS sensor.

It's not normal for that to happen unless you do a very high mileage per year or work the vehicle really hard.

Some makes of VCU bearing do seem to have a very short life, with either the bearing or rubber mount failing. The longest lived are definitely genuine LR bearings.

Thanks guys. The bearings was fitted by a garage 2 years ago, found the receipt which also have the mileage written on it, 207500 it's now 213000'ish. Not lived a hard life, been stationary for long periods of time due to hgf for example.

5.5k miles would suggest a cheap bearing mount then.

I forgot to mention that it's km not miles, so even less. Let's just say they came with the vcu.
I'll get them sorted, buy original LR parts as suggested here.

+1 allmakes VCU bearing is really bad quality and fail shortly .the genuine bearing are FAG

is not genuine but i think is good quality
