.I would be tempted to sit on the phone and actually get to speak to somebody, I did when they were holding on to 1 of my v5s for a change and it was sorted. Guernsey is part of the British Isle what's the problem???
Should be just a reg number change surly

The point of the coc you get from the manufacturer is that it comes with a silver stamp stuck to it that only they can supply so no need for dvla to hold details and buying one online wont come with it either as it's just a copy...

I get the point of the CoC, but if they don't store the details and it's a known standard car, why do they want it? Other than to make life hard
Who says the car indicated on the forms is standard and is as represented at it's inspection and conforms to the coc it's supposed to on the forms?...

Yes it does cause if it doesnt conform it dont get a reg and that is down to the owner not the dvla...

Am i missing something? I thought the coc was for the make/model as manufactured, not the vehicle as presented.. that would be an IVA for a custom build?
Exactly ...the vehicle presented must conform ..it's an import so cant be a modified vehicle it must conform to the manufacturers spec... wonce regd you can then do mods like engine swaps etc...
Nothing to do with the OP vehicle by the way just discussing why the coc is required for an import...

Yes but my point is/was the car could be anything, which is down to the owner. It either conformed or it doesn't. If you say it's fully oem then it confirmed to the CoC so not required. If it doesn't then it's irrelevant anyways
Noooo the owner does the paperwork not the dvla it's not up to them to assert it conforms thats why you go to the manufacturer and they issue a coc and the owner makes sure it fits the coc for import which is what I had to do for a 1975 101 and the main dealer sorted it with JLR and that was here in Portugal took months though and still not sorted due to on going dept covid/portugese ineptitude paperwork excuses/lazyness...

And who checks you're not lying and that your disco doesn't actually have a V10 diesel engine in it with a 3 does slush box?
When it goes for it's reg inspection and the guy with the clipboard has the coc on it ...this is an import its got a NOVA flag it's got a customs clearance as I assume it was sold originally vat free in Guernsey...

Aha, right, i thought it was just a paperwork exercise without physical inspection
Never had to present CoC (except the new trailer trailer from the UK) or any special docs for any vehicles we have registered here, they have checked numbers and database against the reg docs we had. Transferred them across simple.

Thanks again to all, here's the latest.
I was tempted to submit with specifications and V5 type info and leave the blanks, but paranoia about getting into some 'to and fro' with the DVLA.
My Land Rover Fleet contact suggests a more belligerent stance!!
Fingers crossed though, have got confirmation from JLR that CoC is available for the vehicle.......
All I have to do now is some different forms , proof of ID etc..AND perhaps 1st three pages of V5C.
I'm sure this is the basis of a couple of well known novels.
Will keep you up to speed.
