hello all, does any one know any details about the oil pump/filter etc, how much oil does a td5 hold ?, what pressure does the oil pump pressure replease valve blow off at ?, what are the service intervals for the centrifugal oil filter milage wise to be changed and what RPM does the centrifugal oil filter spin at, thanks for any help

When running the centrifugal filter is spinning at anything up to 15000 rpm. The oil pressure typically goes something like this: cold start = 3 bar, hot 1.5 - 3.0 bar, pressure relief valve opens at 4.0 bar. When I change my oil I find that two 4 litre cans take it up to a fraction over the top notch on the dipstick, so once it's filled the filter cannisters and gone round all the galleries I'm usually bang on the top notch. I tend to change all the filters when I change the oil, at 6,000 mile intervals, but I believe the official service schedule says you can leave it for 12,000 miles. I change everything because it comes in the service kit and there doesn't seem any point putting clean oil through dirty filters.

I too think it makes no sense to run clean oil through dirty filters. That's why I change the filters along with the oil. I've also concluded for myself that it's better to do this procedure myself. Then you can be sure of the quality of oil and filter installed. On my Durango, I change it myself, and I always put the best oil filter for 5.7 Hemi.

As brown says 8 litres is correct, I like to pour a little fresh oil through whilst the sump plug is out to try get as much of the old oil out as possible, I use genuine Land Rover filters and change both of them every oil change, the oil every 3500 miles ( very expensive ) but my engine runs nicer than when I got it 6 years ago
