P38A Centre console cup holder

Hi all, after a few weeks tinkering on the new p38 I decided to change the gas strut on the centre console cup holder. Bought a new Oem one off fleabay for about £17. Took the old one off. After i fitted the bew one (i used a small screw where the rivet was). Its still limper than a 90 year old. Has anyone else changed one or got any tips? The catch releases it but it just sits there until you pull it up 75% of the way, which kinda defeats the point.

I used my core drill on the dash board and now have 2 spot on holes to hold my brew in the morning.....

I may return mine and get one from there as it doesn't seem to be working. And yours is half the price

I wish I could find one in a scrap yard.

Look harder....

It would have to be a bloody big mug to fit if i used my core drill

Get a smaller core drill.
