The key fob locks all doors fine. On unlock the drivers door (typical!) remains locked and the key must be used. Not every time, but most times on opening the driver's door the alarm beeps until the key is inserted in the ignition and turned.
Is there a way to reset the system? The only solution we have heard is a £250 replacement relay. Not keen on that!

Hi there, I've just got a Freelander and that was the first problem i had with mine , I called the local dealer and got a new locking mechanism (latch) paid £82.00 for it. Its a bit fiddly to fit but managed it, all works great now.

michael stephenson is right on the money. These are two separate faults. Whilst you have the door card off to change the latch, lubricate all the pivot points on the linkages, and most importantly, grease the cables for the electric windows, especially where they go round the pulleys. Any grease will do, but Halfords sell a white lithium grease for bikes which I've used to good effect.

good luck
