Hi guys ive searched hi and low but cant find a solution?

I bought a freelander with no key fob, I have bought a universal locking kit. Just ECU and fobs no actuators the kit said it will fit any car with existing central locking.

Can I get it to work? Can i foook!

Can anyone give me a definitive answer to what goes where? there arent many wires to fit

Am I correct in believing the system is a negative pulse?

the diagram I got with it is attached below.

Lock wiring is all in the rave disk and haynes manual. Rave disk will talk you through the operation of the locks and electrical stuff.

Hi,
:welcome2:
Download a copy of RAVE - it has a huge amount of info about the electrickery in the Fleelander (and lots of other LR products) its all in there.
From memory the fob signals the receiver under top of dash that activates/deactivates the alarm ECU. That ECU has several other fuctions than door locking - activates internal sensors, engine imobilising, senses closing on doors, controls horn/lights alarm etc.
Even the door locking system is not as simple as on/off switching (ie. pulses).
To further complicate it the alarm ECU is digitally coded into the main engine ECU as a pair and so is not easily bypassed. ie. no correct digital signature from the alarm ecu then no go on engine activity from the main ecu.
Bottom line is if you don't completely reconfigure the way the ECU's inter-work then you ain't got much chance with your universal box.:confused:
Most people get a new fob (ebay) and have it coded to their alarm ECU by a dealer or a reputable indendant (can be done via the diagnostic socket using the right kit).
Your chosen route really looks doomed to end with residual problems.:eek:
Like what Hippo said!

Thanks for the advice. I have used Haynes and rave but using the wiring diagrams I couldn't get the blasted thing working!

Looks like the stealership is going to get my money

I'm in Germany and I was quoted 350 euro for a programmed fob!

Looks like the kits arent as universal as they want us to believe! Gits

Ps

To top today off went through a big puddle today and the bloody thing crawled all the way home plugged it into my scanner and I've got misfires on all 4 cylinders yippee!

Looks like a late night in the garage :)
