Hi all

I have a Freelander, Year 2000, XEDi. Recently if I stop my jeep, get out close door and if I don't lock it and then get in to start it again it won't start and the imbolizer light is flashing, if I get out lock jeep and unlock again and it'll start! My mechanic replaced the batteries in both key fobs incase this was causing the problem but no joy and he doesn't seem to know why either!

Anyone out there have same problem....

part of the fob is faulty.

the fob has a wireless connection of some sort of with the ignition key slot in the steering column.

if the fob is not close to the key hole the car immobiliser will not let the engine start and the red light will flash untill you manually reset it using the button on the fob instead.

sounds like you just need a new fob.

do you have a spare fob, are they both doing it ?
