Central Locking / driver window issue (by newbie!)

Hi All,

Got an issue with a 53 Disco2. Will lock up fine on key. Flashes on opening but NO locks disengage. Have to open with key. Even dashboard button will not disengage locks. Problem has been intermittent, but now full time and now combined with a nasty graunch from driver window ( as if gears are shredding.) Any ideas?

Did it happen overnight on all of them, o one by one over time?

It takes more effort to open door than to lock it. Very typical malfunction. Do not know any way to repair it on DII.

If it did not happen in one day, then looks like time to buy a new lock "cluster" for each one of the doors... quite a budget if it happens to all 4. Rear compartment does open?

I don't know about your locks, but if you take the door card off, you will most likely find a chunk of wood or similar at the bottom of the door skin. This might be what is causing the shredding sound. A common 'fix' when the metal clips at the bottom of the pane rot off. It is stopping your window from falling down!
I found that stopping the window just before it hits the bottom avaoided any terrifying noises. I'll fix it one day...
