Hi all,

Thank you for taking the time to look at my issue – I have looked for already existing forums but can’t seem to find my specific issue.
I bought my RR 4.6 HSE Petrol V Reg last June – and when I brought it the cd changer was temperamental, it would only spit out the cd housing box sporadically, but it played CD’s. ( I never used it often really) then I noticed that it wasn’t working at all, it wasn’t spitting out the CD box, nor were the CD’s playing – so I thought ok, I’ll buy a new CD changer (full unit) as I looked at the fitting and it seemed as easy as a plug and play once you have the Tailgate shell unscrewed. So I purchased an exact copy of the CD changer (Alpine) I plugged it in, to test it, it sounded like it was loading the CD’s constantly, then the noise stopped, I tried playing the CD’s I put in, and it worked lovely (played break on thru by the doors for those interested J ). OK so I left the CD changer in the slot and went out for a couple of hours (not in the car) – when I got back to then screw everything back in place and put the tailgate shell thing back on, I noticed there was nothing, I tried playing a CD, but everything went blank, not even Radio! – there is no noise, I can’t even turn the radio on, there is no error message on the dash board thingy, there is nothing at all – so I know the CD changer I bought was fine and worked, but have no clue as to why now the CD nor the Radio some on at all.
Please, please any suggestions? I know very little about cars, it was only the fact this was just seemingly a plug and play fix I attempted it myself, I recently bought a new RF receiver and central locking system which cost me £600. – I guess I am just hoping it’s a blown fuse or something (not that I am good with fuses! But i’m guessing that would be less costly then a major issue J - )
My name is Frankie, I live in Gidea park, Hornchurch (near Romford) I also commute to North London (Islington) often, and work in Old Street London.
Any help or suggestions would be so much appreciated, and I can’t thank you enough for taking the time to help me on this issue.

Frankie

If it were an L322, I'd say water in the connectors for the radio, sat nav stuff in the rear quarter behind the trim. Could well be the same problem on the P38 as the tailgate seal is known to leak.

Not sure about the alpine but the clarion you have to reset when introducing a new cd player, with the new one connected. It can also lock up all functions!

Hi Davie,

good suggestion, how do i restart the system? do you know by any chance? do i have to disconnect the battery or something? as there is nothing on the console, no message, just totally blank - not even asking for the pass code - any suggestions my man?

thanks for your help by the way

The clarion is a simple press of the reset, Maybe the alpine will have one, have you looked in the manual? The clarion does not respond well to a battery disconnect, much better to reset. For any clarion users, it's next to the flashing led below the volume control.
