Hello,

I was wondering if you guys could check if this wiring is ok. I'm trying to fit a CD player and MUD console to my defender.

The lay out is based on the CD player instructions and some of the threads from this forum - photos of wiring set up attached below (i think!).

CD player - Pioneer DEH-1420UB
Speakers - pioneer TS-E1302i 13cm 180w
Direct live wire (to car battery) - 40amp red and black automotive power cable
40amp relay
4 way fuse holder for ignition live feed
In line fuses for power cable and blade fuses for 4 way fuse holder
Speaker cable - 2.5mm 14AWG
Variety of spade, bullet and ring connectors
Male ISO for back of CD player and crimp/bullet connectors
20A wire as above

Just a couple of quick questions:

What is the best way to have a permanent live feed? Is it best to run it directly to the battery or can u run it off somewhere else more internal?
Is the power cable ok? It arrived the other day and looks quite thin? Like 3mm.
What amp fuses should we use for the inline fuses on the power cable and in the ignition live 4 way fuse box?

Thanks guys and sorry for the incompetent questions

You don`t need a relay for a radio, wire is a bit heavy but not a problem and 10A fuse for the radio should be ample

I might have got the wrong end of the stick but isn't it to create an ignition live for the radio so it turns on with the ignition and then the permanent live provides juice so you don't lose all your presets...

Oh I see, Thanks. I took that off one of the threads on here. will it work the way its set up or will having the ignition live triggering a line off the battery totally **** the CD player?

Does everything else seem ok?

thanks again

I'm new to all of this. What would you recommend in terms of set up?

If be looking to install a CB radio at a later date
