Have you thought about a handheld?
I use a Maycom hand held in my TD5, it's impressive with a magmount and an extension mic and I just clip it to the ashtray or drop it inside the armrest cubby. Takes only a minute to rig it .Maycom AH-27 CB Handheld Tranceiver
the adaptors to attach the ariel you can get from maplins. It also only takes a min to de-rig it, fit the rubber ariel and take it if you need to walk with it.
However going for a roof mounted in my 300 as i'm gonna seal the sunroofs.
My friend fitted one in frunt of the ratio lever, right where the sign/diagram is for the diff. Hard to explain, on the unrighted section. He says the trim is strong and easily can take a small CB like his
he said had no probs with his Midland, his td5 is a Auto too with air con, soI cant see any other reason wot would get in the way. Going to look again at mine tomorrow cos I was thinking of doing this 4 a while too

yer probably gonna need an extension speaker also if you mount it there, unless you get cunning and wire it into the drivers stereo speaker with a little DPDT switch or something??
Next time get it on video and put it up on you tube for us all to have a giggle! Quality!!!!
yeah.. I got one... been looking for a CB with a PA port.
I worry that the Yaesu amateur set may be shallower (less deep longways)
