Hey all,
So I just got my 1989 County 110 diesel rebuilt. Drove it home a few days later I downshifted from 4th to 3rd approaching an intersection. It made a few odd rushed sounds, then died on me. The mechanic towed it back to his garage and informed me I needed 8 new rocker push rods (I'm not sure of the exact technical part name, so bear with me.) A few...well a lot of weeks later I pick it back up.

A couple days later I drive it 60 feet and it does it again. 2nd gear, not high revving or anything stupid like that.

Firstly, I've never heard of this mechanical problem, odd. Secondly, why twice in a flipping row. The mechanic is going to pick it up Monday, and I wanted to see if any of you all could piece together the most likely cause of this Landy hic-cup.

Thanks for any imput. Cheers Hank

And I just realised that I posted this in the introduce yourself. Bats, Hi I'm Hank, I live in southwest France and bought the 110 a couple years ago. I am originally from Maine in the States. Having a bit of a problem with my Landy. Any tips would be appreciated. I will try to repost this in the correct thread.

Cheers Hank.

Needs a new/different mechanic probably. I can't think of a valid circumstance where a properly rebuilt engine should do this once, let alone twice.
But other than my sarcasm (masked as whit) some really knowledgeable Diseaseal-wise will be along in a moment to offer incisive answers though.
Really doesn't sound at all right for a rebuild, so, commiserations and good luck..

If it's bending pushrods it either can't be timed properly, valve clearances set properly or something's not been built/put back together properly. Which Diesel engine is it? N/a, 19j turbo or one of the tdi's? Its standard engine may have been the 19J old turbo diesel.

Hey, thanks for the help. It is the 19j (2.5 ltr turbo), with remanufactured turbo, new oil pump, clutch, E.I.E.I.O.

It's kinda too bad as it has an incredible frame, someone wax-oiled the hell out if it religiously, (pun intended.)

Thanks again everyone.

Cheers Hank
