jumped in my 05 td4 and it sounded like a tank, took a look underneath and alls left is my back box and manifold.... whats it gonna cost me to replace , any ideas. THIEVING PIKEY BASTARDS, ARRRRRRRR :fighting:

buy a decat or a old knackered cat and knock the middle out so least there's a box for the MOT least if they try again and the cat box is empty they'll have wasted time and be ****ed like what you are today

don't need a cat on the td4 for the MOT, just get a straight through pipe, it'll save the agro of having it nicked again.

I agree - a cat is not needed for the MOT.

In fact the vehicle will run better without it so just fit a straight pipe to bridge the gap.

I don't think there are many such thefts in Scotland if at all - yet.

But this is a reminder to all members of the Cat Protection League to look out for their cat.

I was thinking of getting mine neutered anyway, but I'd prefer it had it's bits cut off when I decide.

We dropped the 'league' in the early nineties, its just Cats Protection now.
I think I'll bin the cat when I get my stainless steel system made.

they got nicked off 2 of my vans in work a year ago a 2008 and 2009 iveco daily

and the 2009 got done again 2 weeks ago! they cost £1688.00inc vat EACH!!!!!!!

theiving bastards!!!!!!!!!!

and they do need a cat for the mot

my 2003 iveco daily got done about 2 years ago and that doesnt need 1 for the mot

they must have changed the law somewhere along the line

The MOT guide states, cats are for internal combustion spark ignited engines, diesels don't have sparks. ;)

Well Gents, thanks for the advice, i went to custom exhausts in Doncaster today and they put me a straight piece of shiny crome pipe in for 60 nicker.

Seems a tad more responding too.

Looked on a few forum types and the opinions about wether or not is mot passible thoughts differ, i hold Singovil responsable if things turn out for the worse with the mot inspector as his opinion is what swayed the pipe bit. Cheers all ;)

You'll have no probs with the MOT mate.

VOSA had so many phone calls from testers and private individuals back in Jan 2012 that they actually issued a clarification in one of their update notices confirming the situation regards diesels not needing one.

Cats and emissions tests are only for spark ignition engines.

Smoke test only for a diesel.

They might change the rules of course at some point in the future but as usual we'll get at least 2 years notice of any changes.

Singvogel.
