Weber was introduced as an aftermarket option. Very simple design and reliable with spares and replacement available. I'm happy with mine but couldn't make a comparison.
 
Zeniths can develop 'body warp' that then need rectifying by dismantling and rubbing down, new 'Zeniths' are sometimes copies made overseas of varying quality. Webers allegedly give better economy (not by much) but this could possibly due to (some say) strangling the engine. I have a Weber on my lightweight and it goes OK. ACR do a SU conversion which could be worth considering if you have the cash.
 
I agree with 300bhp/ton, if what you have is ok why change it. You won't notice much difference. Folk usually change cos the existing carb is playing up.

Agreed, it could be like re-hanging doors; after a few hours you would happily settle for getting back to where you started and call it a succes..
