Carb type confirmation....

Hello All,
I'm the new owner of a 1973 petrol SWB pick up (couple of pics in the intro section) having collected it last weekend.
It's now time to address some of its short-comings and hoping someone can confirm a few items for me?

1.I'm aware it has had a new engine fitted, with the engine number commencing '11H', am I correct in thinking this is a 2.25 5 bearing carried over to the first 90's?

2. Would I be right in saying the carb is a 32/34 DMTL (apologies for the photo quality) - if so, I'm assuming this a suitable carb for the engine?




It seems to be running rich, the choke cable is too short meaning it Is permanently engaged.
Just need to be sure of what it is, so I can get a rebuild/service kit, as I'm sure it will benefit from a good stripdown and clean as a starting point..

Looks like a weber to me, common in landys

There is often a tag on carbs that have identity numbers on them. 32/34 DMTL Weber was the standard carb.

+1 on the tag. Try the silver one by the fuel inlet.
It is looks a standard early 90 carb.

Managed to decipher the tag, seems it is a 32/34 dmtl from a 2.5.

When you check the action of the throttle make sure both barrels open fully.
These are good carbs.

Will do.
The throttle cable arrangement, done presumably when the new engine was fitted, is a right old lash-up, proper health robinson so that will be sorted at the same time.

If the carb came from a 2.5 then it may have slightly different jets to the 2.25. I doubt that would be a big problem, but if you're going to overhaul it anyway, you might as well check it out. The jets (and other parts) are all available from Weber agents.
Out of interest (I have a 2.5 engine that I'm planning to fit in my Series), how does your DMTL carb connect to the oil bath air filter? Or are you using some other kind of air filter?

@ExMil109 the carb should have a flat plastic elbow on top to connect to a oil bath filter.but you can run the paper filter if you get the housing.

Good shout on the jets, not a great deal of difference, but like you say might as well get them correct whilst its stripped down.
The air filter is connected as Hicap Phill says with a plastic type elbow.

Your engine number shows it as 8:1 compression
