Just decided to get my old Triumph back on the road. Found that the carbs are all junked up solid, looking for a good cleaner but all i can find are the spray types and i dont think they will make any impression on the ammount of crap im looking at. What would be a good solution to soak the parts in?
WOuld ask on the triumph forum but its crap compared to here.

Strangely Toilet Duck works on carbs and the old petrol gummy gunk stuff.

Don't do if you are not replacing seals etc, just in case...;)

I used to soak carbs in paraffin for about 24 hours, then boil them in water and biological washing powder for about 20 minutes. That used to clean most of the gunge, but my mum was furious about the mess it made of her saucepans. If it's a fixed jet carb then removing the jets beforehand helps the cleaning of the body's internal galleries.

P.S.you may need to replace any gaskets and rubber components, or remove them beforehand.
