A little while ago i posted to try and find out more about a 1975 Series 3 i have bought. I have recently found out that it spent the first 5 years of its life being used at the Car Dispatch Department at Lode Lane. Does anyone know any more about this department and what my car would have been used for. It was a Marine blue 88" Hard top. Although it is now a beautiful green soft top. Any info greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I don't so much worry about the history - its the future that counts! love the green soft tops mind you

It was probably used as a general run around and workhorse. Lode lane was/is a fair size plant and it had lots of suppliers within 10 miles. If it was registered and taxed it might have been used to collect emergency supplies or move parts from one place to another as well as ferrying people about. It wasn't unusual for a new landy to breakdown as it was being driven from the assembly lines, it may have been used to tow it to the area where they made final adjustments, can't remember the name of that department. My Brother in Law worked there for many years but now lives abroad and I rarely see him.

Thank you Col.

I am pleased that the car was first used at the factory. You never know someone who worked there then might remember it!
