car cutting out

hi guy's ,wee problem car keeps cutting out when braking ie coming up to lights etc,not all the time,but its starting to becoming a wee bit to often now,how does the rev counter work, is there any way i can ajust it manually, or is it off the becm.cheers pat.

If its a Diesel .............then its yer EGR valve stickin (EGR = Exhaust Gas Recirculation) Valve

i had a same problem on my last p38 2.5 and it was the intank fuel pump/sender does it only do it when you get down to just below quarter of a tank of fuel?
