Can't reach the pedals.

My wife drove our recently aquired Discovery 300Tdi today and could barley press down on the accelerator, she can reach the brake and clutch pedals no problem but the accelerator pedal sits about 2 inches lower than the other two pedals. I too find myself having to sit closer to the wheel than usual in order to reach all the pedals and I have longer legs than my wife. It's a very early 300 series and still uses a cable to operate the throtle. Before I start chopping things up and welding on extra bits, does anyone out there have any suggestions?
Also we would like to replace the steering wheel with a smaller diameter one. It seems that Mountney don't make an adaptor boss for these cars which is a pity as we both like their classic steering wheels. Our car does not have airbags nor any other gizmo's in the steering wheel, just the horn push. I know the 200 series column is different because I have a Mountney boss kit for one of these and it dosen't fit, any ideas please?

Our local garage fella has his own solution to the problem. He is only about 5 feet tall and the same width ! He has a Landcruiser. He has bolted wooden blocks onto all the pedals to enable his feet to reach them. I drove it the other week and it feels odd. Perhaps if had shaped the blocks to follow the profile of the pedals it would have been better, but it works for him.

I'm 5ft 3" and must admit its a bit of a stretch to reach the pedals on my TD5, just means the steering wheel is a bit closer than I would like. Still got a pair of platform shoes from the seventies, but absolutely no way..........

On ours it's the clutch that is a stretch. Ok for me but wifey couldn't reach it without dislocating her hip. Bought a pedal extender - I think from motability site or something similar. It adds about 3 or 4 inches and just bolts on easy. I would prefer not to have it but it means she can drive it. Had this talk before, probably on here and there was a link or two to buy em.

I never have trouble reaching the pedals. Just lowered the seat and use a periscope.


Grippa on the other hand had to have a wooden block on his go faster pedal in the series

Put some horse muck in yer shoes . It'll make yer legs grow!
