need help again guys. I have read other people post on this but aren't any the wiser.
right to start with I had my water pipe rust through. so I took it off and made another one I will have to add links on to my Facebook as i can't ever add piks on here. also quite proud of the New pipe. so any way new pipe and need thermostat fitted to the car. the car that I drove down the drive and put on ramps. (didn't need it on ramps).
so fitted the pipe and now the car won't go into gear. my engine has oil.
my gear box has oil.
the clutch master cylinder and pipe to the piston all look dry so no sign o leaks.
the plate itself is holding the piston well. I know this defiantly as I have had the little lugs snap off. again sorted plate out.
the piston moves the lever in and out.
but just can't get in gear whilst the engine is on. I canwhen the engine is off. please help. also as I'm on a phone if u should post this somewhere else or look somewhere else can you add a link for me. cheers

Have you pulled the top off the master cylinder to check if it has any fluid in it? If it's still full of fluid then it could be the master. If not it's leaking else where.
I had a master fail while trying to bleed it after changing the clutch and slave so they can go suddenly without warning. If you're lucky it's a failed master or the dodgy connection to the slave. If not it's a new clutch kit.

How long was it up on ramps? Did the clutch release lever get wet when the pipe failed? Has the release lever been lubricated at ever oil change?

I don't know what series it is. it's 2001 reg.
clutch was fine when I drove it up on ramps. level still works I have had someone else pressing the pedal and watched the lever go in and out. it's ment to be a sealed clutch component from what I've seen. and that isn't that old. we had it done only 10months ago.
it was on driving ramps 3 weeks now. I don't leave it in gear or hand break on. I block it with bricks.

If I'm right I think the difference between the clutch working well and not at all is very small so even though you can see it moving it might not be enough. Have you checked for excessive movement of the slave cradle. The brackets can crack causing clutch issues due to the lever seizing up.

It's a common problem with the 1.8 petrol for the clutch lever to go stiff from lack of lubrication, especially if water gets on the lever bushing. This stiff lever causes the hydraulics to be overloaded which eventually fail. You say the hydraulics were replaced, but was the clutch release lever lubricated correctly at the same? If not the hydraulics will simply fail again in time, or the slave mounting bracket will crack and not support the cylinder correctly.

the clutch was changed almost a year ago. and was working fine
the bracket had snapped a lug of it. and as there are so.many freelandrovers. the garage had ordered 3 brackets which were all.similar but not.correct size.
so I took the broken one to my work and repaired the bracket. my idea was I will keep the repaired one untill.i can find the right one. well 3 weeks later the lug snapped off the other side of the bracket.
so I took it.to work again. and repaired it. also looked over it and toughen it up. I've not looked at it.like landrover make in mass produce. I've looked at it.like that's the only 1 I.have and so it will rip the.engine off before it.snaps again.
so this is all working fine.
I tried to put it in gear and start it like somewhere it said. but no joy.
I then thought there would be less stress to the car if I did this whilst the car was moving. so I did this in the way you would have another car to bum it off. and pop into gear it went. now Brum Brum were driving again.

oh the other reason I didn't have luck trying to.move it from parked, was because I had also had my hand break jam on. when I put it on ramps. I drive up and put the hand break on. get out the car and put bricks either side of the wheels. then realise the hand break. but in this case the hand break had not realised and after 4 weeks of not moving and bad weather it needed the wheel off and freeing and sleaning the breaks.
then the car rolled before bumping it off.
the luck I have after waiting 4 weeks to get it driving again. after the first day of.driving I parked it up for the night to find in the morning a flat tire. but that's the less of my worrys now it's driving.

Have you lubed the clutch lever yet? It's a VERY common fault on the K series.
