Hello Landy Lovers,

Could anyone help.........I have a 1999 110 TD5 Tipper, with a cab body. I've been playing around and tidying it up a bit and stupidly on the drivers side took out the panel behind the door striker plate (badly corroded) thinking I could buy one off the shelf......but it appears not. I could make one but don't have much time.

Does anyone know where I might be able to get one??

Cheers

thanks Flossie, yes I guess it's the same.......but they seem to be rare as rocking horse stuff......really not looking forward to having to make one.
My panel beating skills are yet to be created.....

Surely I must be able to buy one from somewhere :(

Dunno, unpicking one off a scrap tub is an option. Maybe a landy breaker somewhere would be prepared to cut one out and post if they have a good one off an otherwise scrap tub.

thanks Flat - Yeah I tried but nothing on their website. They might be best to call on Monday and maybe could make one for me
Still baffled why this isn't an off the shelf part - from what I know (not that much :p) so many Defenders corrode behind the door striker plate I can't believe the part isn't in demand and being made by someone :mad::mad::mad:

thanks, yes might be an option if I can find a good one. I think I'l be buying an anvil and hammer at this stage and some sheet ali.....

I assume it's corroded at the bottom where the seatbox attaches? You could cut that out and joddle a repair in flush, attach using rivits, maybe some extra plate behind to beef it up further.

never forget I had a series 3 safari , started at the B pillar and ended with another bulkhead, all the sills , seat box etc , oh and not forgetting the door tops, lol

that was also the time me being an 18 year old clever clogs wanted to get on welding and decided to not use a welding mask , only took a month before I could start again after getting arc eye , christ that was painful , lesson learned the hard way

was funny when I look back, some panels wouldn’t weld , that was because I didn’t know the metal should be clean , ooops
