G'day, not Australian but have a love of our UK outback not in a Toy-otta! I've had a lightweight, 90, 110 130,'s created off road Courses with a lightweight flying of the top of a hill! Past 20yrs Disco 1, 2, RR Supercharged and now a 99 182k disco2 ES with only 2 gearboxes replaced, rear chassis rot and a Christmas present of a Disco 4 HSE Luxury to replace aforementioned maybe! Lol love the brand.
1 would you replace rear quarter chassis on disco 2?
2 which warranty 4 disco 4 (56k) early 2015
TYIA ;)

Hi Russ :)

Yes, cut and shut the rot out the back of the D2, half chassis readily available for it and reasonably easy to do if you can weld and have space and time to do it.

Warran-what? On anything already out of factory warranty it's a waste of money, yes, really. I know a guy who made a packet out of selling extended warranties and he used to say it was a peace of mind thing for the new owners who inevitably became fluent in French when they found out that there was a get out clause for pretty much everything that could go wrong that was more than about £50 to fix.

Thanks for the quick reply fella! I'm just so nervous about the value of d2

Hi, diesel .. Dog..? ... Or maybe fella will do ;) thanks for such sharp response, my worries are miles of d2 and all ponce bits have stopped working including the headlining sagging but still a good bus and bodywork is more or less immaculate as is the rest of the interior apart from drivers seat! Oh and the xyz sensor, slight loss of coolent. Had a quote for 1k fix chassis have the space but not the knowledge or expertise by a long shot. When Is enough enough :)

Hi and welcome

if I may add when buying a D4 get an extensive warranty that covers crankshafts , as there are reports they can snap and a new engine for a D4 is over £5k

must check small print to ensure it’s covered

Welcome to LandyZone
And happy new year :)

@dieseldog69 hope you cleaned them tracks out before you parked it up for Christmas...

No chance, paddling round in slop is not my idea of fun these days, it was hard enough creating a dry place to get out and walk away as it was and the phuckwits have been in it and moved it since I parked it, no doubt me carpet is rancid now

Bwahahaha, "when is enough, enough" ?

Never!

Link in my siggy takes you to my blog on my D1, bought in 2012 as a rotten fire damaged project and been tinkering ever since, just finished another marathon rebuild on the back end.

Look up my "Project Rusty" thread in the members vehicles forum to see where we are and how we got here.
