Memories of my dads landrover, noisy, windy on the inside!, rusty, bits flling off, windows falling down when slamming the door, which you had to do to shut it, uncomfortable, low seating position so your face was inline with the steering wheel, rough engine, cr*p lights, cold, rubbish heaters etc.

Well after 10 years of jap stuff i,ve gone and bought a landrover so thought i'd better get on here:D I'll take it your all qualified mechanics.

So your Dad had a full fat Range Rover, eh? You must be posh.

Please don't assume that Japanese cars are superior.
My (now sold) Nissan Patrol cracked its head.
My (now sold for spares, my ebay advert describing it as dogs dirt) Nissan Terrano stopped working. Possible ECU, possible fuel pump (engine out job to change the pump).
My current 300tdi Disco is comfortable, utterly reliable, very capable, with working windows, excellent heaters and air con.
 
I'm a farmer by the way so they have to work, father got a l200 after the defender, nothing beats a landrover off road (you could always put your feet throught the floor for more push)... it was alot more comfortable (except a little bumpy) to sit in, quiet, warm, and much like a car, and cost half the price of a landy of similar age. They soon start costing money and rot though like anything else. I bought a 98 shogun... the chassis is so rotten behind the wheel arches its just snapped! Sooooo... here i am.
Its got a 200tdi in and galvanised chassis. I just need to unpimp it so i can actually use it for farming.

What sort of farm? Arable or livestock?

I use mine a lot on the farm, and have done for thirty years, haven't had many problems. I can do almost everything on it myself. and the parts are usually cheap. Never been tempted by Japcrap, don't think it would improve my situation at all.
 
I'm a sheep farmer in the yorkshire dales. Actually its great having a landy again... they were always streets ahead for grip, went down a hill on the moor today in 2 wheel drive were i wouldn't in the l200 or shogun. However i never forget what landys are like and mine has windscreen wipers which seem weak and dont go down to the bottom and the battery light has started to come on:biggrin1:

yes, it can be a bit fun in a snowy year, mainly i have to pull idiots out who have gone were no-one else would to eat there sandwiches on the moor:eek: idots better have deep pockets. Whats that you say its just over that hill... you went down a track and got stuck in a field but tried very hard to get out... thats my field! Anyway.
My sheep are big and fat but am surrounded by hill sheep which are a law unto themselves... my advice is if they are in the road head at them with increasing speed, this is more likely to make them move, if they dont youv'e taken the worst offenders out of the gene pool and we'll all thank you:D

Well that sounds like better business than keeping livestock! :D

What breed are your sheep? Or are they crossbred?
