Cannot open rear door - HELP

Hi,

I cannot open the rear right door using either the inside or outside handles.
Locking and unlocking the door does not do anything, though i can hear the locking mech working (and feel it though the outside handle).
It could be a coincidence, but it seemed to happen when my son tried to open the door from the outside, at the same time that the door was unlocking. Could that have caused it?

I assume that the door latch has failed.

What my best option to get the door open?

Remove the door card? Is that even possible while the door is closed?

Remove the window seal strip and try a and get something down there to open?

Would love to hear thoughts of anyone with a similar issue.

Also, would it be wise to issue information on how to open a locked door on a vehicle to a new member (no offence).....

I have searched this site and others, however not found any reply that rely helps me.

I am still trying to resolve this issue. I took off the door card and was planning on following the instructions to destroy the latch to get the door open. The instructions are for a FRONT door, which seems much easier because you can get on top of the latch through the window opening. However rear window does not extend over the latch. I can only access the latch through the door panel.

Does anyone have experience with removing a rear door latch while the door is locked shut? Any tips would be much appreciated.
