Every time we go around a bend we're getting a noise that sounds just like a big metal ball rolling from one side of the car to the other. It's coming from the rear... The shockers seem fine... the car was MOT'd about a month back anyway.

any ideas??

Welcome - Have you checked the boot to see if there is a cannonball in there

Sorry cant help you but no doubt the Freelander owners will be in later

rear front diff mount gone...theres 3 diff mounts on there rear diff left ,rear diff right ,and rear diff front ...its usualy the front rear one .....but check all 3 ..the one on the front drivers side of the diff is your culprit ..its about a tenner plus vat to buy and listed as a 30 min job .....lr main stealers wanted £88 supply and fit for it ...but it cost me about £14 for a gen lr part and 30 mins of time .....you can easily test if its gone by lying under your truck and pushing the rear propshaft uj where it meets your rear diff up to the underbody of the truck and pulling it down towards the road ...if it moves a lot and doesnt have mutch resistance ....its ****ed !!!!!!! lol have fun

Thanks for the welcomes... Nope, no cannonballs, skulls or anything at all in there... that would have been TOOO easy!! :D

I did find a soaking wet carpet in the storage compartment where the jack is, not relevant to the noise but blinking heck...

The car is innocent this time!

I had problems with the rear window a few months ago but it's fine now and I was scratching my head over where the hell the water had been coming from... This week we've had some heavy rain and the car's bone dry inside...

... Then last evening my wife mentioned she'd had excellent service from the supermarket a week ago, after going back and complaining about the leaking and half-empty 3 ltr bottle of spring water in the pack of three we'd bought...

...it was actually very funny watching the penny drop, and now we know where the water in the boot came from...!! ;)

Still, always good to have one-up in the ongoing battle of the sexes in this house!! :D
