Freelander 1 Can you ID it please

Hello To all.

I have this strange sound like there is something vibrating, but nothing vibrates just this sound like a loose thing. I cant really describe it.
Its better you guys ear it....(sorry about the wind noise)

Sounds like the crank damper pulley. Check for silver deposits around the crank pulley with a torch. Silver deposits proves there's metal contact, which will be the pulley.

Certaintly the crankshaft pulley.

Also the tires don’t look good at all.

The tyres....is the light. they have still 4 to 5 mm thread. they are 6 months old

Sounds like mine at the minute and that's what I thought it was. Crankshaft pulley.

Been like that for about a month, really need to get it sorted but it's on the the ever growing list or things to do on the Freelander

You need the pulley holding tool, as the crankshaft isn't strong enough to handle bolt release torque, which the special tool avoids. Also don't use any form of impact gun on the bolt, as those have potentially been attributed to crankshaft failure.
