If cylinders are your concern look up wet/dry compression testing.
If your concerned with injectors a leak back test would show you exactly.

Both are diy able with a some research and a little help from your friends here :)

Best to ask over in the range rover section

    white smoke that lingers bad
That sounds like unburnt diesel rather than oil

White smoke is generally unburnt diesel passing through the system or coolant (not oil) entering a cylinder or the condensation in the exhaust produced by the normal combustion of diesel or petrol. Burning a gallon of either produces as a byproduct a great deal of water.
The last is especially common on vehicles that only do short journeys & also the reason that those which only do short journeys go through exhausts faster than those used for longer journeys as the exhaust doesn't get hot enough to boil it off. Esp noticeable in cold weather. Mayo in the oil filler cap is also common on them.

Oil being burnt is normally blue. Are you using unusual quantities of oil?

Oil is ok and coolant is ok just lots of white smoke and I mean lots I live on a small road and I can go round it and catch up with the smoke and it smells it's like a cloud or some one has done a wheelspin or burnout

Take it to be looked at whenever you can. Internet diagnosis doesn't guarantee a result... A second opinion in the flesh could be your best result...
We can give you pointers my friend but not direct answers.. As much as we would like too.... ;)

If the injectors are farting while the engine is running it'll be copper washers, normally as a garage I'd recommend that all the injectors are rebuilt or replaced as they all end up failing. A leak off test will tell you if you have parts jammed in injectors but is not a conclusive test and sometimes having them pulled out and tested can reveal other issues.
Question... Do these have to be programmed when replaced???

Thanks have just found that the clip that holds the injector down has snap in half as well so have ordered a fitting kit and a new one to so this may be the problem but I will now need to what and see but will keep everyone up to date as I can not see this being the problem but let's hope

If the retaining clip is in half then surely you will be loosing compression on that cylinder so you will have unburnt diesel.
